Biography

I'm Erin from New Zealand. I'm 18 and am in my first year of university studying towards a Law/Arts degree.
I have Cerebral Palsy and use a wheelchair as a form of mobility, as well as crutches for short distances. My cause is to do with disability rights and how disabled people are viewed and can better themselves in society. I am a member of a steering group that helps disabled young people to transition from school to tertiary study and work. I have also written a book with a young person with Cerebral Palsy from Australia and we are in the process of getting it published.
I would love to advocate more for young people with disabilities like myself. Coming to India is a huge deal for me as I have always had a support person travel with me, but this time I will be travelling independently, which is a really big thing. Though this is a very daunting prospect, I'm looking forward to it and can't wait to meet you all! |
