Biography I am a nineteen years old youth activist and my major interest is development. I have been working in community development since I was fourteen. I started my journey with youth activism as a volunteer at Bibliotheca Alexandrina. As a volunteer at this age, I learned so many things for the first time including the concepts and practical knowledge about community service and civic engagement. I became a part of a reformist team that goes around Alexandria and participates in workshops with the people of the unprivileged districts. In addition, I became involved in organizing many events such as regional and international conferences and seminars. This was a turning point in my life. As a second step, I joined other Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) in which I had the opportunity to expand my social network and gain from other people's experience. In that time, I was almost sixteen years old and I was confused about my dreams of a promising future career and how all this experience can help me out; that is when I decided to pursue a career in development. As a result, I am now a fellow student at the Gerhart center for Philanthropy and Civic Engagement in the American University in Cairo; a center that targets achieving sustainable development in the Arab region and motivating students to do that. I feel that this center is my first clear step in achieving my goals. My major is business administration with a concentration in finance and double minors in Development studies and Economics. I have a dream to be part of the United Nations Development Program in the Middle East and to have a small social enterprise one day.
