“…there is no effective development strategy in which women do not play a central role.”
My name is Tsiaro and I am a Malagasy girl living in Madagascar. My community shows many aspects of poverty and no respect of human rights. Consequently, alleviating humanitarian issues is a major challenge for me. At 15, I was a volunteer during the promotion of sexual and reproduction health in order to prevent unwanted pregnancies and to fight against HIV/AIDS. This first path played a significant role in my life, and at 18 I worked as a Peer Educator in the same field. Then, I participated, on a voluntary basis, in a campaign for the promotion of human rights around Madagascar. I have also been a supervisor of a red card project protecting women’s rights, especially fighting against sexual assault. This project reached more than 500.000 girls and women around Madagascar in 2007. Last year, I achieved my Diplôme d’ Etudes Approfondies in nutrition which dealt with the specific nutritional vulnerability of children and women.
Polyvalent and dynamic, I am devoted to continue what I have started. |
