Biography

I am a proud Indigenous Australian woman, of both Aboriginal (Gumbaynggir) & Torres-Strait Islander (Kulkagal) descent.
I currently live, work and study in Sydney, New South Wales.
I'm studying an Arts/Law degree at UNSW and I work as the justice policy advisor at the National Congress of Australia's First People, which is the peak national representative body for Aboriginal and Torres-Strait Islander people of Australia.
Other positions i currently hold are:
-2012 Oxfam Youth Delegate to the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues.
- Vice-chairperson of the Asia Pacific Indigenous youth network.
- Member of the United Nations Indigenous Youth Caucus.
I have also created the Clarence Valley Indigenous Youth Network which is an online information sharing network for all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people within the Clarence Valley. I am hoping to be able to establish it as a professional consultancy group to ensure that our youth have a role to partake in local community decision-making processes.
I've previously worked as a court advocacy worker within Sydneys local courts providing culturally appropriate and specific services, have held an internship with online campaign organisation GetUp! Australia and have held a cadetship with Qantas airlines.
Within all of the roles I have held, currently hold and seek to undertake, my primary aspirations are to drive positive change and to help to create strong Aboriginal identities and lifestyles. |
